Ningbo Zhenjia Electric Appliances Co., Ltd. manufactures UK Power Cord assemblies for appliances, lighting, power tools, IT equipment and OEM programmes that ship into the United Kingdom and Ireland. Our range is built around the BS 1363 fused plug, with moulded or rewireable versions, and is completed with the cable, connector and packaging configuration each project requires.
Since 2006 we have produced electrical connection and charging solutions at our Ningbo base and at our overseas manufacturing plant in Cambodia, covering power cords, adapters, extension cords, lighting components and EV charging products. For UK mains leads, our engineering work starts with the appliance rating, the destination market and the way the cord is handled in the field.
A UK mains lead is defined by its plug, its cable and its equipment-end termination. We build the three as one assembly so the current rating, fuse value and conductor size stay consistent from plug to connector.
The same plug family appears across our wider Power cord programme, alongside US Power Cord and EU Power Cord versions for products sold in more than one region.
The correct UK Power Cord is determined by where the cord sits in the product and what the end user does with it. The table below maps common applications to the configuration we normally propose.
| Application | Typical Plug / Connector | Cable and Rating Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic appliances, kettles, toasters | BS 1363 to bare end or C15 | Heat-resistant jacket, 13 A fuse, 1.0–1.5 mm² conductors |
| IT, audio and office equipment | BS 1363 to IEC C13 / C5 | 3 A or 5 A fuse, 0.75 mm², compact moulded strain relief |
| Power tools and site equipment | BS 1363 to bare end | Rubber or heavy PVC jacket, abrasion and oil resistance |
| Lighting and decorative products | BS 1363 to lamp holder or inline switch | Small conductor sizes, colour matching, low-friction jackets |
| Export appliances with regional variants | BS 1363 / NEMA / CEE 7/7 families | Shared cable platform, region-specific plug moulding |
UK mains leads carry a fuse, so the electrical and mechanical details have to be settled together. We confirm the following points against the appliance data before tooling or assembly begins.
We operate our own granulation and processing plant, which lets us control PVC compound and jacket properties rather than buying finished cable on the open market. Our R&D team develops and produces cords from customer drawings or physical samples, so a new plug body, a specific relief profile or a non-standard length can be tooled for the programme.
Customization typically covers plug body colour, cable colour and finish, printed branding, fuse rating, connector type, packaging and barcoding. Where a product is sold in several regions, we keep the cable and connector platform common and change only the plug moulding, which simplifies inventory and reduces tooling cost across the range.
Production runs on modern equipment and automated assembly lines, with inspection at each stage rather than only at final packing. Our testing laboratory and inspection equipment support routine checks on the parameters that matter for a fused mains lead.
Our quality system follows ISO 9001, and our power cord and adapter products are produced to c(UL)us, ETL and CE safety standards. Compliance documents, including Certificates of Compliance and Authorization to Mark, are issued with the relevant programmes so importers can file them with their own market documentation.
Most UK projects need more than one cord type. We supply the matching items from the same factory so plug, cable and packaging standards stay aligned.
A quotation is only useful if it matches the appliance and the market. We prepare the configuration and price from the following inputs.
| Input | What We Need |
|---|---|
| Electrical duty | Appliance voltage, current, power factor and required fuse rating |
| Mechanical layout | Finished length, connector type, entry direction and bend clearance |
| Environment | Indoor or outdoor use, temperature range, flexing and abrasion exposure |
| Compliance target | Destination market, required certification and documentation set |
| Commercial scope | Order quantity, packaging format, labelling and delivery destination |
| Reference sample | Drawing or physical sample for new tooling and first-article approval |
UK mains leads are usually fitted during appliance assembly or supplied as an accessory. Moulded plugs need no field wiring; rewireable versions are terminated to the correct fuse and cable clamp before use. For maintenance programmes we supply replacement leads, fuses and connectors in the same specification as the original build, so a service part matches the production item.
Documentation covering ratings, fuse values and compliance references is provided with the shipment, and we support distributor teams with the technical detail they need for catalogues and after-sales enquiries.
The fuse protects the flexible cord, not the appliance. A 0.75 mm² lead is normally fitted with a 3 A or 5 A fuse, while 1.0 mm² and 1.5 mm² leads for higher-current appliances use 13 A. We match the fuse to the cable rating and the appliance current you specify.
Yes. Our R&D team develops and produces cords from customer drawings or physical samples, including new plug bodies, relief profiles, lengths and branding. A first-article sample is approved before volume production.
We do. The cable and connector platform can stay common while the plug changes between BS 1363, NEMA and CEE 7/7 families, which keeps multi-region programmes consistent and reduces tooling duplication.
Assemblies pass continuity and polarity checks, high-voltage insulation testing, earth continuity on 3-core leads, and pull and strain-relief testing at the moulded joints. Fuse rating and finished dimensions are verified against the approved sample.
Our quality system follows ISO 9001, and our power cord and adapter products are produced to c(UL)us, ETL and CE safety standards. Certificates of Compliance, Verification of Compliance and Authorization to Mark documents are issued with the relevant programmes.
Send the appliance rating, connector type, finished length, destination market and order quantity. We review the configuration, confirm the fuse and cable specification, and return a proposal with the sample and production steps. As a China-based UK Power Cord manufacturer, we handle tooling, assembly, testing and export packing from our own facilities.
