Dryer Cord

Ningbo Zhenjia Electric Appliances Co., Ltd. manufactures Dryer Cord assemblies for electric dryers, ranges and similar 240 V household appliances. Our range covers the two North American wiring conventions used in residential and light commercial installations: 3-wire NEMA 10-30P cords with eyelet terminations and 4-wire NEMA 14-30P cords with ring or fork terminations.

We build these cords in 10 AWG copper with molded or assembled plugs, and we supply them as part of a broader appliance and power cord programme that includes Range Cord assemblies and general Power cord products.

What We Manufacture in This Category

A dryer cord is a short, high-current appliance cord that connects a dryer or range to a wall receptacle. The electrical requirement is specific: the heating element runs on 240 V while the motor, timer, controls and drum light run on 120 V, so the cord must carry two live conductors, a neutral and, in modern installations, a separate equipment ground.

We produce the two configurations that cover the majority of North American dryer installations, and we supply them with the conductor count, plug type, length and termination that match the appliance and the receptacle already present on site.

Configuration Plug / Receptacle Conductors Termination Typical Fit
3-wire, 30 A NEMA 10-30P 3 × 10 AWG copper Eyelet connectors Older 3-slot dryer outlets
4-wire, 30 A NEMA 14-30P 4 × 10 AWG copper Ring / fork terminals Newer 4-slot grounded outlets
Range cord, 40–50 A NEMA 10-50P / 14-50P 6–8 AWG copper Ring / eyelet terminals Electric ranges and ovens

Product Range and Where Each Cord Fits

Our dryer cord range is organised around the plug standard and conductor count, because those two variables determine whether the cord will physically and electrically match the installation.

3 Prong Dryer Cord — NEMA 10-30P

30 A, three-wire cord with 10 AWG copper conductors and eyelet connectors. Suited to existing 3-slot dryer receptacles where the neutral serves as the combined neutral and ground path.

Typical use: replacement cords, appliance service, property maintenance programmes.

4 Prong Dryer Cord — NEMA 14-30P

30 A, four-wire heavy-duty cord with 10/4 gauge conductors, NEMA 14-30P plug and four-wire appliance cable. ETL listed, with a separate ground conductor for grounded installations.

Typical use: new installations, code-compliant upgrades, OEM appliance supply.

Materials and Construction

Conductor size drives current capacity and voltage drop. For 30 A dryer circuits, 10 AWG copper is the standard working size; range cords on 40–50 A circuits use 6–8 AWG. We compound our own PVC insulation and jacket material, which lets us control flexibility, temperature behaviour and surface finish rather than depending on outside supply.

  • Conductors: stranded copper, 10 AWG for 30 A dryer cords, larger gauges for range cords.
  • Insulation and jacket: PVC compounds produced in our own granulation plant.
  • Plug bodies: molded construction with integral strain relief.
  • Terminations: eyelet, ring or fork connectors sized to appliance terminal blocks.
  • Colour and marking: conductor identification and jacket print configured to the destination market.

Critical Specifications We Confirm Before Production

Dryer cords sit on a dedicated 30 A branch circuit, so the specification set is narrow but unforgiving. We confirm the following points against the appliance nameplate and the site receptacle before releasing a build.

  • Plug standard: NEMA 10-30P or NEMA 14-30P, matched to the wall receptacle.
  • Conductor count and gauge: 3 × 10 AWG or 4 × 10 AWG, with the neutral and ground arrangement the installation requires.
  • Current rating: 30 A for dryer circuits; higher ratings for range applications.
  • Overall length: standard appliance lengths or a specified cut length.
  • Termination type: eyelet, ring or fork, with stud size matched to the terminal block.
  • Jacket and print: colour, surface and marking text for the target market.

Quality Control and Compliance Evidence

Our manufacturing base operates under the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, and every production stage is subject to defined inspection points. We hold our own testing laboratory and inspection equipment, so conductor resistance, continuity, polarity and insulation integrity are checked in-house rather than outsourced.

Products in this family are supported by c(UL)us, ETL and CE certification, and our certificate file includes Certificate of Compliance E529560, E325763 and E321611, Verification of Compliance records and Authorization To Mark. For a dryer cord project we supply the certificate reference that applies to the exact plug, gauge and construction being ordered, so the documentation matches the shipped article.

Customisation and OEM Supply

We develop and produce cords from customer drawings or physical samples. That covers non-standard lengths, alternative termination hardware, jacket colour and print, retail-ready packaging and private-label marking. Because we run our own granulation and processing plant, changes to compound hardness, colour or flexibility can be made without waiting on a third-party material supplier.

Our wider electrical connection programme includes Connector Type power cord assemblies and Extension Cord products, which allows a distributor to consolidate several appliance and power categories in one production programme.

Installation, Packaging and Delivery Scope

A dryer cord is installed by removing the appliance terminal cover, routing the cord through the strain relief, and landing the conductors on the terminal block in the correct order. The cord must be long enough to reach the receptacle without tension and short enough to avoid coiling behind the appliance.

  • Cords are supplied with the termination hardware and, where specified, installation instructions.
  • Packaging can be poly bag, header card, colour box or bulk carton to suit retail or trade channels.
  • Carton configuration and pallet pattern are agreed at order stage to match container loading.
  • Delivery scope, labelling and any market-specific marking are confirmed in the order specification.

Information We Use to Configure Your Solution

To prepare a dryer cord configuration and quotation, we work from the following project inputs. Where a detail is not yet fixed, we can propose the standard construction for the application and confirm it against the appliance nameplate.

Project Input What It Determines
Appliance type and nameplate rating Current rating, conductor gauge and plug standard
Wall receptacle type 3-wire NEMA 10-30P or 4-wire NEMA 14-30P
Required cord length Cut length, copper weight and packaging size
Termination hardware Eyelet, ring or fork connector and stud size
Destination market Certification route, jacket print and marking
Packaging and channel Retail pack, bulk carton and carton quantity
Annual or per-order volume Production scheduling and material planning

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a 3 prong and 4 prong dryer cord?

A 3 prong cord uses a NEMA 10-30P plug with three 10 AWG conductors, where the neutral also serves as the ground path. A 4 prong cord uses a NEMA 14-30P plug with four 10 AWG conductors, adding a separate equipment ground. The correct choice is determined by the wall receptacle, not by preference.

Can you produce dryer cords to our own drawing or sample?

Yes. Our R&D team develops and produces cords from customer drawings or physical samples, including non-standard lengths, termination types, jacket colour and print, and private-label packaging.

What certifications apply to your dryer cords?

Our products hold c(UL)us, ETL and CE certification, and our manufacturing operates under ISO 9001. Certificate of Compliance E529560, E325763 and E321611, along with Verification of Compliance and Authorization To Mark records, are available for the applicable construction.

Do you test each cord before shipment?

We operate our own testing laboratory and inspection equipment. Conductor continuity, polarity, resistance and insulation integrity are checked as part of our in-process and final inspection routine before cartoning.

What information do you need to quote a dryer cord order?

We need the appliance type and nameplate rating, the wall receptacle type, required cord length, termination hardware, destination market, packaging format and expected volume. With those inputs we can confirm the construction and prepare a quotation.

Can dryer cords be supplied alongside other power cord products?

Yes. We manufacture dryer cords within a broader programme that includes US Power Cord products, extension cords, RV adaptors and generator power cords, so multiple categories can be consolidated into one production and shipment plan.
